An Ambulance for Saam Njaay

In 1996, Juanita “Busy Bee” Britton, the founder of the Random Acts Foundation of Washington, DC, spent one month in a “health hut” helping a group of women with a start-up baby-weighing and maternal health program in the rural village of Saam Njaay, Senegal.

On her visit, ten years later, she was pleased to  discover that a five room hospital had been built to replace the hut. Also, now, it has a visiting doctor and full time Registered Nurse. The clinic services over 50 surrounding villages and desperately needs an ambulance, emergency equipment and staff to service critical patients

$l00 & Above The estimated cost for delivering the vehicle, necessary trainings, funds and operating costs for a year is approximately $100,000. Projected delivery, June 2008.

Mosquito Nets and Malaria Medicine

Malaria is an ancient disease that remains a terrible plague in over 100 countries, predominantly in Africa. The World Health Organization reports over one million, mostly children and pregnant women are especially vulnerable.

Malaria awareness has been minimal until recently and now a greater number of people and organizations are getting involved with prevention and treatment.
